Free School Meals

Is your child entitled to free school meals?

Is your child entitled to free daily milk?

Is your child entitled to a school uniform allowance of £100?

Even if your child is in P1-P3 and automatically receives free school meals, you can still apply for free daily milk and the uniform allowance of £100.

You may be entitled to all the above if you are receiving:

Your child is also entitled to free school lunches if you receive:

Getting free school meals if you’re not getting benefits or tax credits

Your child might still get a free school meal if you’re experiencing financial hardship. This could be because:

  • your immigration status means you cannot get help from the government
  • you’re still waiting on your first Universal Credit notice

The school receives funding from the Scottish Executive based on our Free School Meal entitlement. This funding goes back into school resources to meet the needs of all our learners. For more information please click on the link below.

Help With School Uniform

If you are struggling to buy school uniform for your child/children, please get in touch. There are several places we can apply to for help with school uniform including Edinburgh School Uniform Bank and The Edinburgh Police Fund for Children. If you need help, please email me at And don’t forget we have our Uniform Exchange in school which is free of charge and full of second hand uniform.

School Transport

The City of Edinburgh Council provide free transport for all primary aged pupils living two miles from their catchment school or three miles for secondary pupils. They also provide transport for children in exceptional and special circumstance including pupils with medical conditions, pupils in temporary accommodation, pupils who are looked after and pupils who have a single parent with a disability.

Young Carers

A young carer is anyone ages 5-25 years who has practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities for another person as a consequence of ill-health, disability, mental health difficulties or drug and alcohol misuse. If you think your child/children may be young carers please come and speak to us for support.

Financial Worries and Support

If you are worried about money and unable to support your family, please come and speak to the school. We are able to issue Food Bank Vouchers and point you in the right direction for financial support. Click on the document below to see what help is available.
